South Congress Hotel

10.2.21

There are so many ways to try and describe the planning process for Eileen and Charlie’s big day, but I think the simplest way to describe the planning process, the ceremony, and the reception would be that it was a day of firsts! Not just for the bride and groom, but also for me as a wedding planner! We had a lot of firsts that made this day so incredibly memorable.

Early on, Eileen and Charlie had a few ideas they brought to the table that they had to have: the color orange, trees in abundance, and a chic, Veuve Clicquot vibe that would bring the party! We thrived in the challenge, and one of the first things that stood out to me about the couple was their willingness to let their planner do her thing.

One of the first challenges we faced was the ceremony site. With the stylish and elegant South Congress Hotel as the backdrop, we knew from the beginning that a traditional seating arrangement for the ceremony would not be “Eileen and Charlie.” With complete trust from the couple, we created an intimate ceremony in the round––a first for South Congress Hotel––incorporating benches, chairs, and cocktail tables, with guests finding comfortable perches to take in the lavish decor.

Working with the wonderful Wendee at Botanical No. 9, we were able to create four different floral designs, with table scapes including the repurposed trees from the ceremony, orange ombre runners of baby’s breath with with soft floral hints, marigold garlands with candles and a gold compote vase overflowing with marigold and orange botanicals to have a traditional floral touch.

The grand finale was just another incredible first for me as well: a high-energy, sultry drag show from the exquisite performers of Extragrams. The most fabulous Drag Queens brought the reception up to a whole new level, and made it a night this couple truly will never forget.

Xoxo,

Becky
