Mattie’s Green Pasture

10.15.2022

When Bari and Ken decided to host their destination wedding in Austin, they wanted to give their guests from Chicago a taste of southern charm. With a stunning venue and carefully curated details, their rehearsal dinner and welcome party at Mattie’s became an unforgettable experience.

Bari and Ken instantly fell in love with Mattie’s for its quintessential southern style, making it the perfect setting to welcome their guests. The main restaurant which has a southern home feel, surrounded by magnificent Texas trees, provided an enchanting canvas for the event. To infuse a touch of color into the rehearsal dinner, Bari and Ken chose blue as their accent color. Bouquets of Austin crafted beautiful centerpieces featuring vibrant blue hydrangeas and delicate white tulips. Against the backdrop of pristine white linens and the lush greenery of Mattie’s surroundings, the centerpieces added a striking visual appeal.

Bari and Ken wanted their guests to feel connected to Austin, so they enlisted the help of Bryker Design Co to create a unique seating chart and table numbers. Each table was represented by an Austin-themed icon, such as a longhorn, a cowboy boot, or the State Capitol. This creative idea not only welcomed guests to the city but also showcased its rich culture and offerings. The choice of Mattie’s as the venue was further validated by its menu, which featured classic fried chicken and an array of mouthwatering southern side dishes. Guests indulged in the delectable flavors that perfectly complemented the evening’s southern charm.

The couple ensured that their guests were entertained throughout the event. A cigar roller, accompanied by custom matchboxes, added a touch of sophistication, while the soulful melodies of local Austin artist Carly Jo Jackson filled the air, creating a delightful ambiance. As a nod to their Chicago roots, Bari and Ken included a snack table with containers of Garrett’s Popcorn, complete with custom popcorn containers. This small touch provided a nostalgic reminder of home and added an extra “pop” of excitement to the party.

Bari and Ken relished the opportunity to mingle and celebrate with their cherished guests as the welcome party unfolded. The evening concluded with heartfelt toasts, creating a perfect prelude to their remarkable wedding weekend. The combination of southern charm, delightful cuisine, and personalized touches made this celebration a memorable start to Bari and Ken’s extraordinary wedding journey.
