The Commodore Perry

10/26/2024

Where do I begin with the wonderful Nikki and Jake? Working with these two—and their incredible families—was an absolute joy. From the outset, they had a clear vision: a wedding that was not only beautiful but also truly reflective of who they are—refined, timeless, and modern.

We anchored our design around a color palette that naturally complemented the stunning setting of Commodore Perry. Rather than overwhelm the venue, we embraced its elegance and let it shine. The ceremony took place beneath a beautifully adorned chuppah done by Ida Mayes Floral, framed perfectly by the iconic Commodore Perry tree. The aisle florals created the feeling that the chuppah belonged there all along, seamlessly integrated into the surroundings. One especially meaningful touch was having their dear friend Sydney officiate the ceremony. It brought an intimacy and playful charm that felt so authentically Nikki and Jake.

From there, guests were guided to the sunken gardens for cocktail hour and dinner. I’ve always loved how communal tables transform the space—it felt like one joyful dinner party, full of laughter and conversation as guests leaned across tables to connect. The design remained true to our theme: refined and modern. Clean lines, sleek table settings, subtle pops of color in the napkins, and fresh floral elements like berries and fruits helped elevate the aesthetic while staying grounded in warmth and elegance.

And the celebration didn’t stop there. The chapel transformed into a vibrant dance space, featuring a sleek white dance floor, cozy lounge areas out on the lawn, and beautifully crafted wood bars that stayed busy all night long. One of my favorite moments was a surprise arranged by Nikki’s mom—passing Homeslice Pizza on the dance floor, a nod to one of Nikki’s favorite Austin spots. Her joy in that moment was contagious!

Nikki and Jake wanted their wedding to feel welcoming and to flow effortlessly from one part of the evening to the next. I think we achieved just that—guests moved from a heartfelt ceremony to an intimate dinner to an exuberant dance party without missing a beat. This wedding will forever stand out to me as a timeless design that felt as effortless as it was elegant.

Cheers to The Feldmans—thank you for letting me be part of such a meaningful celebration!
