Camp Balcones Springs

9.18.21

Working with Alyssa was an incredible experience! I will always remember how the location’s significance to the bride made this day extraordinary. Watching her share her childhood memories with friends and family on her and Cody’s special day was a special experience that I will never forget.

The pandemic caused Alyssa and Cody to have to cancel the wedding they had been planning to take place in California. When they were finally able to re-plan their special day, Alyssa decided she wanted to get married at a place that meant a lot to her. This location was Camp Balcones Springs, where she’d grown up going to camp for fourteen summers.

Alyssa and Cody met at The University of Southern California, and they started dating during their senior year of college. Following graduation, they both ended up staying in California and working in the entertainment industry.

While Alyssa and Cody shared a similar college and post-graduation experience, their childhoods were different. Alyssa wanted to show Cody the place where she’d spent most summers of her early life. She wanted to share her camp experience with her family and friends since it was such an important element in forming her into the woman she is today. Throughout the wedding weekend, Alyssa’s loved ones experienced this place she holds dear to her heart. They had lake days and beach days, s’mores nights, and ate meals in the very places at which Alyssa had such fond memories.

During the morning of the big day, the ladies got ready at The Thicket. Here, there’s a stunning view of all camp activities, so they got to watch and listen to the cheerful people having a summer day down on Lake Ted.

Alyssa and Cody shared their first look under the Texas oak trees, where, behind them, there was a view of the lake sparkling with bright reflections of the sun’s rays. Alyssa grew up attending Sunday Service at camp under these very Texas oak trees, so she and Cody decided this special location was perfect not only for the first look, but for the ceremony itself.

I sent the wedding party down the grand staircase to the ceremony, where a dreamy environment awaited them. Wooden benches faced a stunning floral arch, which displayed warm pink, orange and yellow colors that matched the warmth and happiness of the day. We even had “Duke the female dog”, Cody’s family golden retriever, as our adorable flower girl.

After the ceremony, the guests headed up to the main camp area for a beautiful reception under a sky of twinkle lights. Delicious signature cocktails, meticulously chosen first dance songs, and sentimental yet funny toasts from friends and family combined to create a beautiful beginning to the reception. The guests danced the night away with their band, then headed to the after party where they didn’t skip a beat and kept the party going with their vinyl DJ.

Alyssa and Cody put thought into every decision that was made when planning this wedding, and were always thinking of ways of how to make each detail all the more special. Their love was so obvious, and it was such a pleasure to work with them and see their big day unfold into a collection of beautiful and unforgettable memories!
